Opening Word:

The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team returns on Monday for its second straight home contest as the Peacocks prepare to host Quinnipiac in a 2 p.m. kick-off.
The team heads into Monday's match coming off an impressive come-from-behind win over Fairfield in Jersey City on March 26.
The men fell to an early 2-0 deficit against the Stags in their last matchup, but battled high winds and a solid Stags back line to come back and finish on top by a 4-3 margin.
Senior forwards Jordan Jowers and Dominic Laws each notched two goals in the outing, while classmate Philip Smith finished with his first assist of the season.
The upcoming tilt against the Bobcats will be a meeting of the top-two MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll favorites, as Saint Peter's was tabbed to finish first with 112 points from voting, narrowly beating out Quinnipiac who finished with 111 points.
Additionally, the Peacocks garnered one more first-place vote than the Bobcats, earning six top bids compared to five from Quinnipiac.

History with the Bobcats:

A relatively recent series in relation to the Peacocks' other conference opponents, the history between the two sides is a tight one, as Saint Peter's enters Monday's game trailing 5-6-1 all-time against Quinnipiac.
Last year's regular season matchup served as a testament to the competitiveness of the series, as the Bobcats took a 2-1 win in double overtime at home on Oct. 2.
Senior midfielder Alex Garcia tallied the Peacocks' lone goal in last season's affair, finding the back of the net in the 90th minute off an assist from Jowers to send the game into extra minutes.
Last season's matchup, which was the conference opener for both sides, proved to be the only regular season MAAC contest the Peacocks lost in 2019, as the team won out over its nine remaining conference opponents.
The Peacocks will look for their first win over the Bobcats since securing a 2-0 victory in Hamden, Connecticut on Sept. 26, 2015, and their first win in the series at home since their 4-2 win on Sept. 14, 2005.
