Saint Peter’s Secures First Conference Win

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team (3-6-1, 1-3-0 MAAC) picked up its first conference victory of the season, defeating Canisius (3-6-1, 1-3-0 MAAC) in a 2-0 match at Jaroschak Field on Saturday. Tim Strele lifted the Peacocks over the Golden Griffins with a two-goal performance.

The Peacocks were the first to strike on a sunny day in Jersey City, when Strele put a shot in the back of the net in the 30th minute. Davis Barnes assisted him on the goal for his second assist of the season. Saint Peter's held a 1-0 lead over the Griffs at halftime and outshot them 8-to-7, despite allowing four Canisius corner kicks.

The Peacocks wasted no time extending their lead to 2-0 after halftime, scoring just 30 seconds into the second half. Strele scored his second goal of the game, this time assisted by Connall McErlain. Moritz Conrad made three saves on the day on his way to his third shutout of the season.

Other Saint Peter's players to register a shot on goal were Shane McCreery, Omre Etienne, Robin Muur and Barnes. Adnan Chokrane also saw his first game action this season against the Griffs.
