HAMDEN, Conn. – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team (2-5-1, 0-2-0 MAAC) fell to Quinnipiac (3-5-1, 1-1-0 MAAC) by a score of 0-2 in a tight defensive battle on Saturday at Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium.
The Peacocks recorded five shots on the day, but they were unable to put one in the back of the net as the Bobcats claimed victory. Defensively, goalkeeper
Moritz Conrad totaled six saves while facing 16 shots. He now has 37 saves on the season.
Quinnipiac had great scoring chances in the first three minutes of the game, but the Saint Peter's defense was able to clear the ball and stay safe. Shortly after, however, Quinnipiac scored its first goal at the 10-minute mark to take a 1-0 advantage over the Peacocks.
Saint Peter's had a hard time creating scoring chances in the first half, but the defense remained strong, allowing just one goal after the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the Bobcats kept rattling shots off, and it finally paid off after another goal came in the 63rd minute.
Facing a 0-2 deficit, Saint Peter's was unable to come back late in the game and ultimately fell to Quinnipiac by two goals. For the Peacocks, sophomore forward
Connall McErlain led the team in shots with two.
