LOWELL, Mass. – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team fell, 1-2, to UMass Lowell on Thursday at Cushing Field, despite making a late comeback in the second half. The Peacocks and River Hawks both played a physical game, with seven total yellow cards issued in the second half.
Despite the defeat, the Peacocks (0-1) showed flashes of great, consistent play. They gave up a goal early to the River Hawks (1-0), but they responded well at the start of the second half and saw solid scoring chances from senior captain
Lex Vaughan.
Vaughan led the team with four total shots, three of which were on goal. His three shots on goal were the most among all players in the game.
Kaloyan Somov netted the only goal for Saint Peter's, scoring in the 78th minute to cut the deficit to just one.
Adam Holt and
Tim Strele also had shots on goal in the match. The Peaocks had a few more chances down the stretch, but UMass Lowell held on for the win.

Saint Peter's and UMass Lowell were even in shots at 14 apiece…they were also even in corner kicks at six each…the Peacocks committed just 11 fouls compared to the River Hawks' 21…seven total yellow cards were given out.
