LITTLE FALLS, N.J. – The Saint Peter's baseball team fell to NJIT by a score of 0-9 Tuesday evening at Yogi Berra Stadium.
The Peacocks (8-23, 4-10 MAAC) struggled to make it on base and make contact as the Highlanders (18-16, 7-2 AmEast) held them to just four hits on the day.
The four Saint Peter's hits came from
Sean Martinez (2),
Logan Baker (1) and
Luke Schwartz (1).
Lance Mittelman had a solid performance on the mound for the Peacocks, pitching five innings and allowing just four hits and an unearned run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Peacocks' first hit came in the top of the fifth inning when Martinez singled with a hit through the left side. In the next at bat, Schwartz singled through the right side to advance Martinez into scoring position on third.
Schwartz then stole second while
Garrett Greco was walked to load the bases for Saint Peter's. The Peacocks were unable to take the lead after trailing while down 0-1 after
Tommy Kendrick grounded out for the third out of the inning.
The score stayed the same until the bottom of the sixth when NJIT extended it's one-run lead to 3-0 heading into the seventh. From there the Highlanders continued to stack up runs to eventually win the game 9-0.

Saint Peter's will face off against Siena in a three-game series at home starting Thursday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m. ET. The following games will be played on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
