Box Score QUEENS, NY- The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball program fell to St.John's at their season opener by a score of 80-39 Monday afternoon.
What Happened
During the first quarter, redshirt sophomore guard Nikola Zdenkova opened up the floor beyond the three point arc, while sophomore forward Fatmata Janneh added another triple to the board.Â
Zdenkova finished the first half shooting 2-of-3 beyond the three point arc. At half the score was 46-16 St.John's.
Saint Peter's started off the second half with junior guard Louella Allana shooting from downtown. Graduate student guard Maya Hyacienth drove to the hoop and finished with a clean layup. Janneh and senior forward Layla Laws each added a point to the scoreboard with a free throw.
At the start of the final quarter, Janneh had a pair of jumpers. Janneh contributed six points to the squad in the final stretch. Freshman forward De'Naya Rippey connected a pair of free throws. Zdenkova shot from downtown, while Hyacienth scored in the paint.
Janneh led the Peacocks in points, tacking 12 points along with seven rebounds.

Next up, the Peacocks travel to West Point, New York where the squad takes on Army. The match-up will take place on Saturday, November 9th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.Â
