Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team defeated the Rider Broncs on Saturday afternoon by a score of 68-58. The Peacocks had three scorers who all secured double-digits in points. Sophomore guard Jada Leonard led the way with 24 points, senior guard Rachel Kuhl contributed 17 points and freshman forward Fatmata Janneh tacked on 14 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Janneh got the Peacocks offense going with an early jumper. Janneh shot 2-of-5 from the three-point arc and went 5-of-14 from the floor.
During the first quarter, Leonard shot beyond the three-point arc assisted by sophomore guard Reilly Sunday. Kuhl had three straight triples to pace the Saint Peter's offense. Kuhl helped the Peacocks take on the lead early in the opening quarter. She had a total of 10 points and went 3-of-3 at the end of the first.
Sunday scored a three-point goal, assisted by graduate student Mikia Keith early on in the second quarter. Graduate student Maya Hyacienth shot from the three-point arc assisted by Jada Leonard. Janneh shot beyond the three-point arc leaving the score 25-22 toward the end of the first half.
As the game approached the half, the score was 33-32 in favor of the Broncs. The Peacocks shot 70% from the three-point arc through the first 20 minutes of play.
Janneh connected beyond the three-point arc allowing the Peacocks to pull in front early on in the third. Leonard had a buzzer beater layup at the end of the third, which put the Peacocks back in front 54-40.
Saint Peter's drained six free throws over the final minute to secure their second conference win of the season.
Kuhl went 4-of-9 from the floor. The squad shot 45% in three-point baskets and 38.6% from the floor. The Peacocks had a total of 24 rebounds and 13 steals.

Following this game, the Peacocks travel to Niagara Falls where the squad takes on the Purple Eagles. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm on Thursday, February 1st. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
