Jersey City, N.J.- The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team fell to Long Island University in the season opener, 3-0. The game was originally scheduled to take place at Jaroschak Field, but it was moved to the Lincoln Park Turf Field at 1 p.m.
Game Notes
- The Peacocks battled hard throughout the game but came up short of a season-opening victory against the LIU Sharks.
- LIU took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Gina Proviano in the 24th minute.
- Saint Peter's fell into a bigger deficit in the 29th minute when Stephanie Schubert notched LIU's second goal of the afternoon.
- The Peacocks trailed at halftime, 2-0.
- Both teams had players receive yellow cards within the first five minutes of the second half. For Saint Peter's, freshman midfielder Olof Hildur Tomasdottir was given a yellow card less than two minutes into the final half. LIU's sophomore midfielder, Betty Half, was admonished with a yellow card in the 48th minute.
- Noa Bartels van Bosbeek recorded LIU's final goal of the afternoon in the 55th minute.
