HAMPTON, VA. – Sophomore Jada Leonard totaled 25 points and Graduate Student Mikia Keith tallied 18 points to help the Saint Peter's Peacocks secure a road win against Hampton 69-58 on Thursday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Peacocks had three players in double figures, led by Leonard who had 25 points and seven rebounds. Keith secured 18 points and Senior guard Rachel Kuhl added 15 points while shooting 50% from beyond the arc. Both Keith and Kuhl had their season high's on Thursday afternoon.
Sophomore guard Reilly Sunday opened the scoring for the Peacocks on Thursday afternoon, draining a three point basket. Sunday contributed five points to the squad in the first quarter. After falling behind 35-20 at half, Saint Peter's quickly bounced back.
At the start of the third quarter, Leonard made a layup after a turnover in the paint. The Peacocks' comeback began, holding the Lady Pirates scoreless for six minutes and 59 seconds out of halftime. Leonard then tied the game 35-35 after the Lady Pirates scored. Kuhl had a fast break from a turnover and converting a three point goal. At the end of the third quarter, Saint Peter's was able to capture the lead and never looked back.
As the Peacocks took the lead, Keith continued her strong game, shooting went 5-of-11 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc. The squad pulled down a total of 31 rebounds.
NEXT UP
After holiday break, the Peacocks head up to Connecticut where the squad takes on Quinnipiac. Tip-off is scheduled for 11am on Thursday, January 4th.
