JERSEY CITY, NJ. - The Saint Peter's volleyball team competed in its second home match of the season against the Siena Saints (2-14). The Peacocks fell in three sets: 25-23, 25-15, 25-18.
Mackenzie Tucker led the Peacocks in points with 8.5, six kills, two service aces, and a team-high six digs. Tucker is the team-leader in points this season with 126. SPU freshman
Evin Jordee passed for a team-high 14 assists. At the net,
Elena Bilhartz had three total blocks.
Match Notes:
- The Saints won a decisive opening set 25-23. The Peacocks jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Saints responded. SPU trailed 12-9 before they rattled off six consecutive points in a run that started with a kill from Oliva Gang and ended with a service ace from Jordee. Later in the set, the Peacocks took an 18-17 lead following a kill from Tucker. The Saints went on a 5-1 run and built a 22-19 advantage. The match was tied at 23 before the Peacocks committed two errors and Siena clinched the set.
- Saint Peter's trailed 10-4 in the second set before it went on a 3-0 run which was highlighted by two consecutive service aces from Tucker. The Saints closed out the set with 15 of the next 23 points and won the second set 25-15.
- In the third set, the Peacocks attempted a late comeback down 23-14 as they went on a 5-0 run. The Saints ended the Peacocks point streak and closed out the set 25-18.
- Sara Wagner led Siena with 13 kills.
Next, the Peacocks host conference opponent Canisius on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Yanitelli Center. The match begins at 1PM and will be streamed on the Peacocks Digital Network.
