Women’s Basketball Begins Final Road Stretch of Season at Siena on Saturday

Peacocks travel to Loudonville for tilt with the Saints

Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will prepare to hit the road for a three-game stretch, beginning with a bout against Siena on Saturday (Feb. 22) at 7 p.m.
  • The Peacocks are coming off an 82-60 loss at home to current Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) leader Marist on Feb. 20.
  • Sophomore Briyanah Richardson led the Peacocks on the offensive front, scoring a team-high 20 points while dishing out five assists and going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. 
  • Taiah Thornton and Zoe Pero also registered double-digit performances against the Red Foxes, scoring 13 and 11 respectively. 
Series with the Saints: 
  • Saturday's game will be the second of the season between Saint Peter's and Siena, and the 73rd matchup all-time, as the Peacocks enter the game with an overall record of 32-40 against the Saints.
  • In their first meeting this season, Saint Peter's came out on top in its MAAC home opener against Siena, taking an 87-83 victory in Jersey City on Jan. 6.
  • Two Peacocks broke the 20-point mark in that exchange, with Gabrielle Harris leading all players with 25 points and Richardson tacking on 23 of her own.
  • The Peacocks are seeking their first victory in Loudonville since defeating the Saints 53-45 on Feb. 13, 2010.
Peacocks in the 20's: 
  • During conference play, four different Peacocks have broken the 20-point mark, more than any other program in the MAAC.
  • Both Richardson and Thornton have each notched four games during the conference schedule in which they have scored 20+ points.
  • Kendrea Williams has also been one of the Peacocks' top producers, hitting the mark in three MAAC games this season, most recently when she scored 22 against Fairfield on Feb. 18.
  • Harris rounds out the group with two games of 20 points or more, as the redshirt junior finished with 25 points against Siena on Jan. 6 and 20 against Canisius on Jan. 25.
  • Additionally, Thornton is one of only six players in the MAAC to record a 30-point performance in conference play, having dropped 30 against Canisius on Feb. 15.
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks will head to Connecticut next week for their second tilt of the season against defending MAAC champion Quinnipiac on Thursday, Feb. 27. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
