GAME NOTES

Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will host Canisius for its second installment of its four-game homestand on Saturday (Feb. 15). The opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
  • The Peacocks are coming off a 68-64 loss to Niagara on Thursday night despite leading for the majority of the contest. The win secured a season series sweep for the Purple Eagles.
  • Sophomore Briyanah Richardson finished the day against Niagara with a game-high 21 points while leading all players with seven assists.
  • Fellow sophomore Wil'lisha Jackson had a strong night on the boards, bringing down a team-high 11 rebounds.
History with the Golden Griffins:
  • Saint Peter's and Canisius will meet on the hardwood for the 66th contest in the history of the series on Saturday afternoon; the Peacocks trail the all-time series, 31-34 and have just three wins in the last 19 games against the Golden Griffins.
  • Earlier this season, however, the Peacocks secured an 86-68 road win in Buffalo back on Jan. 25.
  • Saint Peter's was lethal from beyond the arc in that January meeting, tying the MAAC single-game three-point record with 16 made triples.
  • The Peacocks will look for its first win over the Golden Griffins in Jersey City since defeating their MAAC foes on Feb. 12, 2012.
Building Blocks:
  • In her game against Canisius on Feb. 13, senior Zoe Pero finished with a career-high six blocks.
  • The performance ranks among the best single-game efforts among all Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) players on the season, as Pero's six rejections tied for second on the league individual game rankings.
  • Pero also recorded an impressive four blocks against LIU on Nov. 5, which marks the fourth most in a game among all MAAC players this season.
  • Pero leads the Peacocks in blocks on the season with 24 and is the only player on the team with over 20 rejections.
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks will remain in Jersey City as they prepare for a Feb. 18 meeting against third-place Fairfield. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
