Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team returns to the Yanitelli Center for a four-game homestand, set to start on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Niagara.
  • The Peacocks most recently traveled to Monmouth on Saturday and dropped a narrow 59-57 decision to their hOURglass rivals.
  • That game against the Hawks featured four double-digit scorers for Saint Peter's, including Kendrea Williams, who scored a team-high 16 points while going 4-for-7 from deep.
  • Sophomore Briyanah Richardson finished with 11 points and led the team in rebounds and assists, notching five of each on Saturday.
History with the Purple Eagles: 
  • Saint Peter's and Niagara will line up for the 74th meeting between the two programs on Thursday and the second this season.
  • Last month, the Peacocks traveled to Western New York to do battle with the Purple Eagles in an eventual 97-89 defeat.
  • Redshirt junior Taiah Thornton will look to repeat her success from that first meeting, having scored an impressive 25 points while shooting 58.8 percent from the field and going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.
  • Saint Peter's will be looking for its first win over Niagara in Jersey City since defeating the Purple Eagles 78-66 at home on Dec. 30, 2016.
From D-III to Top-Three: 
  • The redshirt trio of Thornton, Williams, and Gabrielle Harris enter the Peacocks' Feb. 13 matchup against Niagara as the team's top-three leading scorers.
  • The three transfers arrived at Saint Peter's after playing under head coach Marc Mitchell at FDU Florham (NCAA Division III).
  • Each player is averaging in double-digits for Saint Peter's, with Thornton leading the way with 14.8 points per game, followed by Williams (13.8) and Harris (12.6) rounding out the group.
  • Through 21 games, the trio has combined to lead in points in 20 contests, as Thornton has been the Peacocks' top scorer in eight games, followed by Williams with seven and Harris with five.

  • The Peacocks remain at home to welcome Canisius for a weekend bout on Saturday, February 15 at 2 p.m.
