Baseball Falls to Quinnipiac

The Peacocks dropped the first game of the series 13-0

WEST HAVEN, CT – The Saint Peter's baseball team dropped its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener to Quinnipiac, 13-0.
 
Game Notes
  • 2 out of 3 hits for Saint Peter's in the game came in the first two innings.
  • Leadoff hitter, Hunter Mason began the game with a single to left center but the next three batters did not reach base and ended the inning.
  • In the bottom of the inning, starting pitcher Blake Gonzalez gave up no hits and kept the Bobcats off the board.
  • The second inning began like the first, with leadoff batter Jared Paladino singling to right field to get on base.
  • The Peacocks would fail to score again though, with the next three batters retiring.
  • Saint Peter's allowed seven runs in the second inning, falling behind 7-0.
  • The Peacocks looked to make a push in the fourth, beginning the inning with a Peter Ferony single up the middle.
  • Following a drawn walk by Jared Quintero, a double play advanced Ferony to third.
  • John Gavura then forced a walk and stole second, putting two runners in scoring position.
  • With two out and two on, Andrew Connor was walked, loading the bases for Saint Peter's but Edwin Feliciano hit a fly out to center field ending the inning with three left on base and no runs scored.
  • In the bottom half of the fourth, the Bobcats lead grew to 10-0 behind a three-run inning.
  • Quinnipiac scored one run in each inning from innings six through nine to seal the 13-0 victory over Saint Peter's.
