Baseball Drops Final Game of Series to CCSU on Sunday

The Peacocks lost the final game, 12-4 to CCSU to close out the weekend series

NEW BRITAIN, CT – The Saint Peter's baseball team concluded its three-game weekend series with Central Connecticut State on Sunday, falling in the final contest, 12-4.  
 
Game Notes
  • CCSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.  
  • The Peacocks got on the board in the fourth on a fielder's choice made by the CCSU shortstop, forcing the out at first while Nicholas Sciubba scored the Peacock run from third.
  • Three more runs by the Blue Devils in the fifth would put the Peacocks behind, 6-1.
  • A second Peacock run came in the top of the sixth when Jared Quintero hit a RBI double to left center to bring in Sciubba for his second run of the afternoon.
  • Still trailing, the Peacocks gave up six more runs combined in the sixth and eighth innings, facing a 12-2 deficit heading into the final frame of the game.
  • With two down and two on, Luis Garcia doubled to left field, clearing the bases for two RBIs.
  • The rally attempt would stop there with the final Peacock batter flying out to center field to end the game.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Quintero posted two hits and an RBI to lead the Peacocks.
  • In his only plate appearance in the game, Garcia recorded a double with two RBIs
  • Jared Paladino was 1 for 4 in the game and drove in a run.
  • Saint Peter's runs were scored in the game by Sciubba (2), Andrew Connor (1), and Edwin Feliciano (1).
