GAME NOTES

Opening Word:
  • The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will travel to Maryland on Friday to do battle with Coppin State in a morning matchup.
  • The starting tip is scheduled to go up at 11 a.m. at the Physical Education Complex Arena on Coppin State's campus.
  • The Peacocks are coming off a one-point loss to Wagner on Nov. 13, in which the team fell by a score of 89-90 on a last-second buzzer beater.
  • Redshirt-junior Taiah Thornton paced the Peacocks offense, dropping a team-high 17 points while also going 3-7 from beyond the arc and grabbing three rebounds.
History with the Eagles:
  • Saint Peter's holds an impressive record against the Baltimore squad, standing at 5-1 in the series against the Eagles.
  • The first ever meeting between the two squads took place on November 27, 1985, when the Peacocks took home a 95-30 victory in Baltimore.
  • The last time the two sides met on the court was December 20, 2004, during the Saint Peter's Holiday Classic, which saw Coppin State's sole victory in the series, taking home a narrow 59-56 victory.
  • The Peacocks will be looking for its first win against the Eagles since Dec. 12, 2002, when Saint Peter's came away with the 70-51 win.
Spreading the Wealth:
  • In their last time out, five Peacocks recorded double-digit performances, including Thornton (17), Gabrielle Harris (16), Briyanah Richardson (11), Kendrea Williams (11), and Yamel Abreu (10).
  • The last time the Peacocks accomplished this feat came against LIU Brooklyn on Nov. 17, 2018, with Zoe Pero (19), D'Abiyon Magazine (17), Richardson (13), Sammy Lochner (13), and Anna Maguire each surpassing the 10-point mark.
  • The game marks the second consecutive contest in which the Peacocks' four newcomers, (Abreu, Harris, Thornton, and Williams), have posted double-digit performances.
Back in Business:
  • The Nov. 13 matchup against Wagner marked the return of last year's unanimous MAAC All-Rookie Team member Briyanah Richardson.
  • In her first game back following an injury, Richardson got off to a slow start but picked things up dramatically in the second half, producing all 11 of her points in the final 20 minutes of play.
  • On the night, Richardson would go a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe, while hitting two shots from the field and on from beyond the arc.
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks remain in the DMV and will be heading to our nation's capital to play Howard University on Sunday, Nov. 17 for a 2 p.m. tip.
