Peacocks Return to Jaroschak Field to Face Marist

JERSEY CITY, NJ–The Saint Peter's women's soccer team looks to bounce back after a narrow 3-2 loss to Mount St. Mary's, despite a strong second-half rally. The Peacocks return home to host Marist, Saturday, September 20, for their annual Family Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. with post game festivities and light refreshments to follow at the RLC's Peacock Cafe.

Saint Peter's (4-4-2, 1-1) nearly erased a second-half deficit against the Mount but came up just short. The mountaineers finished with a slim 15-13 edge in shots, including an 8-5 advantage on target, though the Peacocks led 4-3 in corners. Goalkeeper Bergljot Kristinsdottir currently ranks sixth in the MAAC in save percentage with a .739, while Julia Pinho Magno sits third in shots per game (3.13) and fourth in goals (5).

ABOUT THE RED FOXES
After a difficult start to the season, Marist (1-5-2, 0-0-2 MAAC) found new life with a pair of hard-fought ties against Iona and Siena, as well as a commanding 3-1 win over New Haven. The Red Foxes went from being outshot 34-70 across five matches in August to matching their total shots in the first three games of September while holding opponents to just 17. Adding to the upshift, freshman Ella Bryan was also named MAAC Rookie of the Week this past week, the first Marist player this season to receive a weekly MAAC award.

Marist is led by third-year head coach Nicole Pacapelli Ciano.

ALL TIME RECORD
Saint Peter's is 5-19 all-time against Marist, including 4-7 at home. The Peacocks have won the last two of three matchups, with Grassifulli playing key roles in the back-to-back victories — assisting the lone goal in 2022 and scoring the early winner in 2023.

AROUND THE MAAC
Sacred Heart (3-3-1, 2-0) and Canisius (2-4, 2-0) are at the top of the standings, as both teams have two wins in the MAAC. Quinnipiac (1-3-2, 1-0-1) sits in third after their draw to Niagara (3-2-1, 0-1-1), and Fairfield (6-1, 1-0) is close behind in fourth after their MAAC opening win over Iona (2-5-2, 0-1-1). After their loss to the Mount (3-4, 1-1), Saint Peter's is fifth in the standings.

Saturday's match will be streamed live on Peacock Digital Network.
