JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's basketball program along with its 12 conference opponents will play a newly formatted conference schedule this upcoming 2025-26 season, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced on Thursday.
The Peacocks will begin conference play at home this year with games against Canisius on Dec. 5 and Niagara on Dec. 7. Saint Peter's will then hop back into some nonconference games before continuing MAAC competition in late December.
The MAAC aimed to reduce overall travel metrics for its 13 schools with the new-look conference schedule and it managed to do so, lowering the total miles traveled from 39,714 in 2024-25 to 37,185 in 2025-26.
Each team will play 10 home games and 10 road games for a total of 20 conference games this year. Each team will also receive two "byes." The MAAC schedule will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 3 and end on Sunday, Mar. 1.
MAAC Schedule Notes
- Each team will play eight teams twice and four teams once
- Each school is guaranteed to play their closest geographic opponent twice, but the opponents that a team plays only once was selected at random
- Because of the shift (earlier) to the tournament dates this year, the games that were previously played on the last weekend will now be played on Dec. 29 and Jan. 19 (MLK Day)
- The men's schedule features two Thursday/Saturday weeks, as determined by the COAA group
- The ESPN wildcard selection process will be utilized once again this season and those dates will be distributed at a later time
