Men's 4x400 Squad Wins at Penn Relays, Cracks Program Top 10

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Ten Saint Peter's track and field athletes took the stage at historic Franklin Field on Friday to compete in the 129th Penn Relays.

Amari Campbell opened the meet for the Peacocks in the men's long jump. Facing a deep field featuring athletes from all divisions, Campbell secured a top-10 finish, placing eighth overall with a jump of 6.79m on his fourth attempt—just five and a half inches shy of his season best. Birmingham's Oreofeoluwa Adepegba claimed the title with a mark of 7.34m.

On the track, the women's 4x100m relay team—Karilynn Jimenez, Samyah Wilson, Balikis Iyiola, and Shania McDuffie—lined up among 22 teams across three heats, all chasing a spot in Saturday's final. Despite a strong effort, the Peacocks missed qualifying by just 0.07 seconds, clocking 48.88 to finish 11th overall. La Salle took the top seed with a season-best 47.35.

In the Men's Sprint Medley Relay Championship of America, the Peacocks' squad of Ameen Zubair, Connor Ziolkowski, Ajani Peck-Wekunda, and Michael Amaker finished in 3:35.27, placing 20th out of 23 teams. Georgetown University took home first place with a winning time of 3:16.20 in a thrilling final sprint.

To close out the weekend, the Peacocks' 4x400 relay squad of Hensley Jean Baptiste, Ajani Peck-Wekunda, Ameen Zubair, and Connor Ziolkowski captured first place in the College Men's 4x400 CTC division with a time of 3:19.27. The win marked a season-best for the program and now ranks as one of the top 10 fastest times in Saint Peter's men's track and field history. The quartet ran a strategic and competitive race with the following splits: Jean Baptiste opened in 50.32 (2nd place), Peck-Wekunda took the Peacocks into the lead with a 49.54 leg, Zubair held strong in second with a 51.40, and Ziolkowski closed the race with a dominant 48.03 anchor to bring it home for the win.

Up next for the Peacocks…Saint Peter's has two weeks with no competitions before heading to the 2025 Outdoor MAAC Championships at Rider's Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex in Lawrenceville, May 10–11.
