COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Saint Peter's track and field team traveled to the University of Maryland for their first road outdoor meet of the season, competing at the Maryland Invitational at Kehoe Track and Field Complex.
The Peacocks delivered standout performances across multiple events, highlighted by the men's 4x100m relay team shattering the nine-year-old school record in the event, improving the previous mark of 41.57 (set in 2016) by .33 seconds with a blazing 41.24.
HIGHLIGHTS
The women's hammer throw event opened the day for Saint Peter's with
Kennedy Vaughn and
Ciara Brown representing the Peacocks. Vaughn finished seventh in the 12-athlete event, hitting a new PR with a throw of 40.33m, surpassing her previous record by .34m. Right behind her was Brown, who hit a mark of 39.95m. First and second were claimed by UoM, with Chioma Njoku throwing 61.53m and teammate Morgan Graham reaching 52.30m. UMBC's Marie Abongwa rounded out the podium with a 49.12m throw.
The women's triple jump featured three of the five top marks on AthleticNet's
2025 D II Top 100 and the
2025 HBCU Top 100 lists. UDC's Zoe Shaw finished first overall in the event with a mark of 11.37m, hitting #25 on the D II list and #15 on the HBCU list. Bowie State's Anijah Medley secured second place at 10.82m (#51 DII, #26 HBCU).
Adriana Rollins secured the third top spot with a mark of 10.77m.
McKenzie Johnson also represented the Peacocks in this event, landing a mark of 10.10m.
Amari Campbell recorded a season-best in the men's long jump, finishing second overall with a mark of 6.93m. Roman Mills (unattached) took first at 6.95m, while Bowie State's Robert Silinzy secured third with a personal-best jump of 6.91m.
Shania McDuffie made her outdoor debut in the 100m, earning herself a top ten finish (7th), crossing the line in 12.74. UoM's Armanie Colomon finished first out of 19 athletes with a time of 12.02. Rounding off the top three was Sharpe Athletic's Miyana Johnson in second (12.57, PR) and Howard's Nadia Jacobs in third (12.61).
Karilynn Jimenez was just shy of ninth place, crossing the finish line .005 seconds behind George Washington University's Dami Oyatayo (12.791). Rounding out the event for SPU was
Samyah Wilson (12.86), finishing twelfth.
In the 15-athlete 100m event, four Peacocks secured a place in the top ten.
Delano Gooden secured third with a time of 10.87. UoM's Roman Spikes took first in 10.74, just ahead of Bowie State's Jaiden Jarrett (10.77).
Omari Owens-Jones hit a new PR in this event, finishing fourth with a time of 11 seconds flat.
Dylan Williams and
Ameen Zubair made their outdoor debuts, placing sixth (11.25) and seventh (11.27), respectively.
Five of the seven competitors in the 100m hurdles recorded a season-best or personal-best time. Howard's Jasmine Hunter won with a season-best 14.38, while UoM's Isabella Castillo placed third with a PR of 14.48.
Mikell Dolo represented Saint Peter's, finishing in 16.18.
The men's 400m featured three Peacocks in the top 10. Seven of the top 10 finishers recorded personal bests, with the fastest times coming from heat one.
Hensley Jean Baptiste narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in a PR of 48.68. Freshman
Ajani Peck-Wekunda won his heat in 49.88, placing sixth overall.
Malique Jackson finished eighth in 51.80, just .32 seconds off his outdoor PR.
Ryan Fernandes crossed the line in 54.10.
The men's 4x100m saw two new times added to the
2025 D I Top 100 list, a season-best, and a new time added to the
2025 D II Top 100 list, with both first and second running under a 41.25. UoM edged out Saint Peter's for first place, running 40.30 to land at #37 on the DI list, a season-best time for them. The Peacocks squad–led off by Zubair, followed by Owens-Jones, Williams, and anchored by Gooden–shattered the nine-year-old school record, finishing in 41.24, earning the #85 spot on the DI Top 100 list. Bowie State rounded out the podium with a time of 42.62, landing at #89 on the top 100 D II times and #32 on the
Top 100 HBCU list.
Gooden, Zubair, and Williams weren't done yet, returning alongside Jean Baptiste and Jackson in the men's 200m. Gooden was the highest-placing Peacock, finishing behind four UoM sprinters with a time of 21.86. Roman Roman Spikes secured first with a season-best 21.22, ranking #75 on the
2025 DI Top 100 list. Jean Baptiste placed 10th in 22.50, followed by Zubair (12th, 22.96), Williams (14th, 23.14), and Jackson (15th, 23.69).
