FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Peter's baseball team fell to George Mason, 2-17, here at Spuhler Field on Friday after struggling on the mound throughout the game.
The Peacocks (1-4) had a rough time against the Patriots (2-3), recording just six hits through seven innings as the game was called after George Mason led by 15 runs.
Mike DiForte started at pitcher for Saint Peter's and he let up eight runs over the first three innings which led to a change.
Yash Jain then came in and saw some success right away, pitching a shutout in his first inning. Afterward, it was downhill for the Peacocks as George Mason rattled off nine runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The two runs for Saint Peter's came in the third and fourth innings. In the third,
Garrett Greco singled up the middle as
Ben Williams put the Peacocks on the board. With the bases loaded in the fourth inning, Williams hit a single to bring
Ethan Starks home while advancing
Alex Manent and
Zaine Toneske.
It was bad news for the Peacocks from that point on as the only man on base came from a walk. Saint Peter's will look to improve on Saturday when they take on the Patriots at 1 p.m. ET.
