NEW HAVEN, CT– The Saint Peter's track and field team traveled to Yale University to compete in the 18th annual Giegengack Invitational at Coxe Cage in New Haven, Connecticut.
Women's Events
Sophomore Kennedy Vaughn finished in the top 20 of the women's weight throw with a distance of 13.01m. Chidinma Agbasi from Brown University took home first out of 28 athletes with a personal best throw of 19.72m.
Freshman Adriana Rollins earned a top-10 finish in the women's triple jump, recording a mark of 10.84m. Brown University's senior Jada Joseph claimed first place out of 19 competitors with a jump of 12.82m. Freshman McKenzie Johnson also competed in the event, finishing 12th with a personal-best distance of 10.57m.
In the women's 500m, senior Diamond McLaughlin placed fourth, crossing the finish line in 1:16.98. Columbia's Lucy Henkel won the event with a time of 1:15.88.
McLaughlin also secured a top-20 finish in the 200m, clocking in at 26.39. Southern Connecticut State University's (SCSU) Hannah Caiola won the event out of 42 competitors with a time of 24.56. Junior Shannelle Vilson also competed, finishing in 28.24.
Men's Events
Freshman Ameen Zubair placed second in his heat of the men's 60m prelims with a time of 6.92 but narrowly missed the final, finishing 10th overall. Fellow freshman Dylan Williams placed fourth in his heat (H2) with a time of 7.14, ranking 24th overall. Graduate student Delano Gooden dominated the event, winning his heat (H3) in 6.81 before improving to 6.76 in the final to take first place.
The men's 500m featured a strong showing from the Peacocks, with sophomore Connor Ziolkowski finishing second in 1:05.71, followed closely by freshman Ajani Peck-Wekunda in third with a personal-best time of 1:05.77. SCSU's Quinn Favorite edged them out for first with a time of 1:05.63. Junior Michael Amaker also competed, finishing in 1:07.55.
Junior Cashieve Blair blazed into first place in the men's 400m, clocking in at 48.14 to top a field of 20 athletes. Senior Hensley Jean Baptiste placed 11th in 51.57, while freshman Adeiza Albert finished in 53.97.
Junior Elijah Kiboma placed 13th overall in the men's 800m, finishing in 1:58.22. Unattached athlete Patrick Forrest won the event with a time of 1:49.17.
Sophomore Temiloluwa Adesetan led the Peacocks in the men's 200m, placing sixth with a personal-best time of 22.71. SCSU's Sam Sandler won the event with a time of 21.97. Zubair also competed, finishing 11th out of 35 athletes with another personal-best time of 22.95. Junior Malique Jackson rounded out the event for Saint Peter's, finishing in 23.64.

Saint Peter's will now turn its focus to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships, set for February 22-23 at the New York City Armory.
