STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Saint Peter's Track and Field team kicked off the new year in impressive fashion at the New York Gotham Cup, hosted by MileSplit at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex this afternoon.
RUNNING EVENTS
For the men's running events, graduate student Delano Gooden blazed to first place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.76. Junior Cashieve Blair continued the winning streak, clinching first in the 500m with a stellar time of 1:04.40. Sophomore Connor Ziolkowski joined the leaderboard, finishing in the top five of the 500m with a time of 1:05.94. The men's 4x400m team capped their day with a strong fourth-place performance, clocking in at 3:23.73.
On the women's side, freshman Samyah Wilson sprinted her way to a personal best in the 60m, finishing third with a time of 8.15. Senior Diamond McLaughlin delivered a top-five finish in the 500m, crossing the line in 1:19.05. The women's 4x400m relay team earned a top-ten finish with a time of 4:11.24.
JUMPS AND THROWS
Freshman Ana DeVries impressed in her pole vault debut, claiming third place with a personal best height of 2.95m. Fellow freshman Adrianna Rollins leaped to a top-ten finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.70m, while senior Ayanna Paige secured ninth in the long jump, hitting a distance of 5.07m.
In the shot put, sophomore Ciara Brown powered her way to fifth place with a throw of 12.29m, and freshman Alyana Meador set a new personal best at 11.22m, finishing 13th.

The Saint Peter's Peacocks return to competition next Friday and Saturday (Jan. 24-25) at the Dr. Sander Invitational, hosted by Columbia University at the NYC Armory.
