JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team fell to conference leader and #25 Fairfield by a score of 63-46 on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior guard Rachel Kuhl got the Peacocks offense rolling with an early three-pointer. Freshman center Carys Roy connected two free-throws, while freshman forward Fatmata Janneh scored in the paint. The Stags took the lead after the first quarter by a score of 15-7.
At the start of the second quarter, sophomore guard Jada Leonard shot beyond the three-point arc and Roy had a pair of lay-ups. Roy contributed six points, while Janneh shot 50% at the end of the first half.
Saint Peter's opened the second half with Janneh scoring in the paint. Following that, Janneh connected two free throws. Kuhl had a floating jumpshot, while Leonard followed up with a jumper. Janneh shot beyond the three point arc towards the end of the third.
Graduate guard Maya Hyacienth shot from downtown early in the final quarter. Graduate forward Maria Fux had a steal and a pair of lay-ups. The Stags answered with a free throw to extend their lead but held off a Peacock rally down the stretch.
Janneh led the way with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals, while shooting 5-for-9 from the field. Kuhl tacked on 12 points, while Roy posted seven points. The squad shot 40% from the floor and 77% from the free-throw line.

Next up, the Peacocks travel to Emmitsburg, Maryland where the squad closes out the regular season at Mount St. Marys. Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
