DURHAM, N.H. – Saint Peter's women's volleyball dropped its season opener in a sweep against Merrimack in New Hampshire's Holly Young Invitational.
Freshman Sydney Kuzma was the Peacocks' leading scorer in her debut, tallying nine points.
Match Notes
- The Peacocks got off to a strong start, leading 6-3 in the first set. Merrimack battled back, taking control of the set with a 12-1 run that helped the Warriors out to a 25-18 win in the opening frame.
- A 13-0 Warriors run early in the second set helped open a large lead for Merrimack, as it jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a 25-7 win
- Merrimack powered to a season-opener win with another strong start to the third set, closing out the match with a 25-12 win.
Inside the Numbers
- Kuzma's near double-figure effort came off seven kills, two block assists and an ace. She also had a team-high five digs.
- Freshman setter Lillian Konrad had 11 assists and a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage with three kills.
- Freshman middle blocker Elena Bilhartz notched a team-high four blocks.
- Freshman Mackenzie Tucker and junior Camille Thoennes joined Kuzma as the three who tallied an ace in the match.
