Women’s Basketball Struggles at Fordham

BRONX, NY - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team lost to Fordham on Thursday night 81-39.

Despite the result, the first quarter finished at 16-11 in favor of the Rams. Graduate center Jazmine Carter had six points in the first quarter after only scoring four against Seton Hall. She would finish the game with 11 points on five-of-eleven shooting (45.5%), while adding five rebounds. She was the only Peacock to score in double figures.

At the 4:05 mark of the second quarter, the Rams led the Peacocks 22-17. Fordham would finish the game on a 59-22 run to seal the game. The Peacocks scored in double figures in the first and fourth quarters of the game.

Freshman guard Jada Leonard paced the Peacocks off of the bench, scoring eight points and grabbing six rebounds. She played 28 total minutes, which was third on the team.

The leading scorer from last game, junior guard Rachel Kuhl, was kept in check tonight. She was only able to score four points and only made one field goal. She did however lead the team in steals, blocks, and minutes played.

Inside the Numbers

  • The team shot 12-47 (25.5%) from the field, 2-9 (22.2%) from the three-point line, and 13-20 (65%) from the free throw line..
  • The Peacocks scored 17 bench points, courtesy of Leonard, freshman forward Endya Greene, and sophomore guard Imani Felix.
  • All ten active Peacocks saw the floor.
  • Green scored four points and added four rebounds.
  • The Peacocks recorded 29 turnovers.
