Pastor Romero Scores First Career Goal; Women’s Soccer Drops Heartbreaker at Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team lost to Marist University by a score of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Freshman defender Carlota Pastor Romero scored for the Peacocks.

Game Notes:

• Senior midfielder Skyler Owens attempted the only shot on target for the Peacocks in the first half at the 23rd minute, but her effort was saved.
• Freshman goalkeeper Annabelle Adams made five first-half saves to keep the score knotted at 0-0 going into halftime.
• The Red Foxes scored two quick goals in succession in the 61st minute and again in the 63rd minute to take a 2-0 lead.
• The Peacocks got on the board in the 78th minute. Junior midfielder Madison Greenberg played in a free kick to Pastor Romero who guided the ball home to make the score 2-1.
• Greenberg was hit hard by the Marist goalie in the Marist box with less than 10 minutes left in the game, but a penalty was not issued.

Inside the Numbers:

• Pastor Romero's goal was the first goal of her career.
• Greenberg's assist was her first of the season and the second of her career.
• The Peacocks registered six shots. Owens and senior defender Brooke Boutchie each had two. Pastor Romero and senior midfielder Stephanie Radakovic added another.
• Owens and Pastor Romero each had one shot on goal.
• Adams made six saves in the game, as she continues to lead all MAAC rookies in that category.
