JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team fell to St. Francis Brooklyn by a score of 1-0 in the Peacocks season opener at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field on Thursday afternoon. The game was played in the middle third for most of the first half. Each side was only able to register one shot a-piece, with Peacocks freshman goalkeeper Annabelle Adams making the only save of the half.

St. Francis came out of the gates on the attack in the second half, dominating possession before finally scoring in the 59th minute after jumping on a loose ball in the box and scoring on an empty net.

In the 62nd minute, senior defender Fatou Doucoure fired a shot from long range that was about to sneak under the crossbar, but the shot was tipped over for a corner kick by the St. Francis goalie.

The Peacocks tried for the tying goal down the stretch, but were unable to get a good clean shot on goal.

Adams, freshman midfielders Sydney Watson and Lula Mansilla Medina, and freshman defender Carlota Pastor Romero all played in their first collegiate game. Adams, Watson, and Mansilla Medina each got their first collegiate start.

Doucoure was the only Peacock to register a shot on target.

Despite the Peacocks only having one shot on target, they managed to get three corner kicks in the game to the Terriers' one.

Boutchie was booked for a yellow card in the 67th minute on a tackle just outside of her own box.
