Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wagner Beats Women’s Soccer on Wednesday Night

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team fell to Wagner College by a score of 3-0 in the Peacock's first road game of the season on Wednesday night.

Game Notes:

  • It didn't take long for the Seahawks to put their mark on the game, scoring a breakaway goal in the sixth minute of action, followed by a well worked play three minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.

  • Wagner would then add a third in the 21st minute to make it a 3-0 contest.

  • Saint Peter's created their first chance of the game in the 31st minute when senior midfielder Stephanie Radakovic played a beautiful left-footed ball to the right side of the field to senior forward Amber Whitley, but her effort went just high over the crossbar.

  • In the 62nd minute, the Peacocks best look of the game came from senior defender Brooke Boutchie, as she rocketed a free kick from thirty yards out that forced the Wagner keeper to make a very late punch.

  • The Peacocks created some chances down the stretch, but none of them evolved into a goal.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Freshman forward Julianna Jatkola played in her first collegiate game, registering 45 minutes.

  • The Peacocks registered seven shots, including two on goal via Whitley and Boutchie.

  • Freshman goalie Annabelle Adams made three saves on six shots faced.

  • Saint Peter's outshot the Seahawks in the second half seven to six.

Coach's Quotes - Julia Bazi:

  • We lost the game in the first 25 minutes. We fell asleep at the start of the game and that 25 minutes cost us.

  • We started to play better in the second half, but the game was already lost.

  • Big learning curve for our new players. It is Division 1 soccer now, the game is a lot quicker but they will learn. At this level, if you give the ball away and you are asleep, you get punished.

Up Next:

  • The Peacocks have a quick turnaround as they hit the road this Sunday, August 29, to take on Army West Point (0-2) in West Point, NY.
