  • The Peacocks are seeking their second consecutive season-opening win on Friday, following last year's 3-1 victory on opening day against Delaware State on Aug. 23.
  • Saint Peter's finished last year with three wins, matching their totals from 2018 and 2017 while the team's best previous finish came in 2011, when the program reached the same mark.
  • The Peacocks will look to build upon their success while traveling last year, as two of their victories came on the road in 2019, as the team secured wins at NJIT (Aug. 31) and Siena (Sept. 28) by margins of 2-0 and 1-0, respectively.
History with the Jaspers:
  • The Peacocks and the Jaspers will meet for the 30th installment of the all-time series on Friday.
  • The match will be the first time in history that the two sides have met in a season opener and the first time Saint Peter's will face off against Manhattan in its conference opener since September 29, 2012.
  • Saint Peter's faced Manhattan in the last season's final regular season tilt, ultimately dropping a 2-0 decision on October 30, 2019 and consequently falling to 3-26 in the overall against the Jaspers.
  • The Peacocks will look for their first road win over the team from Riverdale since defeating their MAAC foes 3-1 on October 9, 1996.
Say Hello to the 2020-21 Peacocks:
  • The Peacocks return 12 members of the 2019 squad, as the team will be led by senior captain Nazae Craw, along with junior captains Brooke Boutchie and Stephanie Radakovic

  • She is joined by classmates Jazmin Brown and Dominique Cummings to complete the Peacocks' sophomore class.
  • Saint Peter's welcomes two newcomers this season in junior DayVonna Gill, who joins the squad following two seasons at Seton Hall, and freshman Leslie Pineda, who rounds out the squad as the lone rookie.
Under New Management:
  • Head coach Julia Bazi makes her return to Jersey City to take the helm of the Saint Peter's University women's soccer team after serving as an assistant coach with the Peacocks from 2012-13.
  • In addition to her time at Saint Peter's, Bazi has held collegiate coaching positions with the Fashion Institute of Technology, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Franklin Pierce.
  • Bazi also enjoyed a highly impressive playing career, appearing in the 2000 and 2004 FIFA Women's World Cup for Australia while also playing on Australia's national side in the 2004 Summer Olympics.
  • Bazi is joined by assistant coach Brett Axelrod, who brings over a decade of coaching experience with him, having worked on staff at his alma mater Whitman College, as well as Fordham and LIU Brooklyn with a focus on goalkeepers.
  • Volunteer assistant coach Iudy De Araujo Lopes completes the coaching trio after playing with both Sacred Heart and Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where he served as a coaching graduate assistant in 2019.
