Williams Drops 25 Points; Women’s Basketball Wins Exhibition Over NJCU

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team outscored their opponents by a score of 27-14 in the second quarter and 20-13 in the third quarter to propel them to a 80-62 victory over visiting New Jersey City University on Wednesday night at Run Baby Run Arena.

The Peacocks had three players score double figures as part of a balanced showing up and down the lineup, as nine different players got into the point column. The game featured eleven Peacocks, including all four newcomers.

Both teams went back-and-forth over the majority of the first quarter, with NJCU holding its largest lead at 14-8 towards the end of the first quarter. Saint Peter's put the heat on in the second by going on a 10-2 run over a two minute span early in the quarter, followed by a 7-2 run late in that same quarter to give them a 12 point cushion. The halftime lead for Saint Peter's was 11.

Two free throws by junior Kassondra Brown and then back-to-back threes from graduate student Kendrea Williams pushed the Peacock lead back to double digits after NJCU got it to within nine early in the third. The Peacocks would never relinquish that double-digit lead throughout the rest of the game.
