Getting Things Started
  • The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team hits the road for the first time this season as they travel to nearby Newark to take on the NJIT Highlanders at Lubetkin Field on Saturday, August 31 at 1 p.m.
  • The Peacocks hold a perfect record of 2-0-0, which is the first time the team has achieved this mark since the 1994 season.
  • In its most recent match, the women's soccer team was able to outlast Hampton University and hold on for a 1-0 victory off the boot of freshman midfielder Madison Greenberg.
  • Greenberg scored her second goal in as many games after netting her first career tally in her collegiate debut; she has scored on both of her shot attempts thus far.
  • Junior goalkeeper Victoria Scarratt enjoyed an impressive outing against Hampton, recording 11 saves while securing her sixth career shutout for the Peacocks.
History with the Highlanders
  • Saint Peter's and NJIT have met annually since 2012 with the exception of last season.
  • The Peacocks will be aiming for their first victory over the Highlanders after dropping each of the last six matchups.
  • During the last meeting between the two squads in 2017, NJIT posted a 4-0 decision over Saint Peter's.
  • Saturday's showdown marks the third time that Saint Peter's will be traveling to NJIT.
Up Next
  • The Peacocks return home to Jersey City to host the University of Maine at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field on Wednesday, September 4 at 3 p.m.
Keeping the Ball Rolling
  • The unassisted goal by Greenberg against Hampton (Aug. 28) is the freshman's second in as many games, this time netting the ball in the bottom left corner after putting it just out of reach of the keeper.
  • Scarratt had an outstanding game in goal against the Pirates, posting seven saves in the first half alone, ultimately finishing the game with 11 saves.
  • It was the fourth game in Scarratt's collegiate career in which the keeper has recorded double-digit saves in a single game.
  • Saint Peter's holds a 2-0-0 record for the first time in 25 years, and it is the first time in 23 years that the Peacocks have started off 2-0-0 in their first two home matches.
Climbing the Charts
  • Junior keeper Victoria Scarratt continues to climb the charts of the Saint Peter's women's soccer record book in her career. Scarratt currently sits top-10 all-time in career saves, wins, ties, and shutouts.
  • The junior also holds spots on the all-time list for saves per game, save percentage, and goals against average.
A Trio of Goals
  • Against Delaware State (Aug. 23), Saint Peter's netted the most goals scored in a single game (3), since September 9, 2017, when the Peacocks defeated current opponents, Hampton, 5-1.
  • The three goals against the Hornets were scored by three different individuals (Isabel Fernandez, Madison Greenberg, and Skyler Owens); the last time the Peacocks had three different goal scorers in a game was also during the 2017 matchup against Hampton.
Making History
  • The season-opening home win against Delaware State marked the first time in program history that the women's soccer team secured a season-opening win at home.
  • The victory stands as the first season-opening win for the Peacocks since week one of 2009, when the Peacocks defeated Wagner College, 2-0, at Wagner.
Meet the 2019 Peacocks
  • Head coach Melissa Sherwood enters her fourth year at the helm of the Saint Peter's women's soccer team.
  • For the second season in a row, the Peacocks have 13 letterwinners returning from the previous season. They will look to earn a MAAC Championship berth after narrowly doing so a year ago, when the 2018 squad finished with 10 league points, the most for the program in one season since 1998.
  • Junior goalkeeper, Victoria Scarratt, returns after finishing 2018 with the third-most saves in the MAAC with 95.
  • Sophomore Brooke Bouchie, a 2018 All-MAAC Rookie Team selection, returns as the Peacocks' top scorer from a year ago. She tallied two caps in 16 games as a freshman last year..
  • Kelly Aguilar, Victoria Babcock and Alyssa Conanan make up the trio of seniors that, alongside junior captains Nazae Craw and Isabel Fernandez, will comprise the leadership corps for the Peacocks this fall.
Fresh Faces
  • The women's soccer team welcomes six newcomers into the fold this year.
  • The Peacocks will welcome two transfer student-athletes to the program, including graduate transfer Noelle DeFede from Mount St. Mary's and sophomore Amber Whitely from Middle Tennessee State.
  • Four true freshmen will be joining the squad this season: Jazmin Brown (Toms River, NJ), Dominique Cummings (Brick, NJ), Madison Greenberg (Columbia, MD), and Haley Martin (Middletown, NJ).
