Women’s Basketball Falls to Monmouth to Conclude Regular Season

The Peacocks lost to Monmouth at home, 76-59, to conclude their regular season

JERSEY CITY, NJ- The Saint Peter's women's basketball team fell to Monmouth on Saturday afternoon, 76-59. Briyanah Richardson led the team scoring 23 points.

Game Notes vs. Monmouth:
  • Zoe Pero opened the game with a jumper in the first minute to go up 2-0.
  • Towards the end of the first quarter, Briyanah Richardson hit two free throws to tie the game at 6-6. 
  • Monmouth scored a 3-pointer in the final 45 seconds of the quarter to take the lead 12-11. 
  • Monmouth opened the second quarter with a three point basket right away in the first 12 seconds of the quarter but Richardson answered with two made free throws bringing the Peacocks within two points. 
  • The Hawks then went on a 14-2 run, to bring the score to 31-16. 
  • The Peacocks went into halftime trailing Monmouth, 38-20. 
  • In the third quarter at the 7:16 mark, the Peacocks went on a quick 6-0 run, cutting Monmouth's lead 40-27. 
  • At the end of the quarter, Tyara McQueen scored a 3-pointer at the buzzer to go into the last quarter down 54-39. 
  • In the final quarter, Monmouth earned their largest lead, 22 points at the 8:39 mark, leading 63-41.  
  • The Peacocks continued to battle against the Hawks but it wasn't enough ending with a final score of 76-59. 
Inside The Numbers:
  • Richardson led the Peacocks in scoring, totaling 23 points and a team high of five assists.
  • Wil'lisha Jackson added 10 points and six rebounds against the Hawks. 
  • Zoe Pero grabbed a team high of eight rebounds and seven points. 
  • Cinnamon Dockery had nine points and a team high of two steals. 
  • Tyara McQueen had a career high six rebounds and three assists.

●      The Peacocks will compete in the MAAC Championships on Thursday, March 7,
