Women’s Basketball Edged By Monmouth on Tuesday Night

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team fell to Monmouth, 70-50 on Tuesday night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. Briyanah Richardson finished with a team high 18 points. 
 
Game Notes vs. Monmouth:

• The Hawks took a 10-5 lead midway through the first quarter.
• Briyanah Richardson responded with a layup and drew the foul to earn the extra point. 
• Sammy Lochner sank a 3-pointer to cut the Monmouth lead to one point, 12-11.
• The Hawks closed out the quarter on a 7-0 run, bringing the score to 19-11.
• Monmouth continued their run by scoring six straight points to open up the second quarter, bringing the score to  25-11.
• The Peacocks started to fight back, forcing two turnovers.
• The team scored six straight points off the turnovers, still trailing the Hawks 25-17. 
• The Peacocks continued to cut into Monmouth's lead and went into halftime down, 39-26. 
• In the second half, Wil'lisha Jackson sank her first career 3-pointer, and the Peacocks trailed 45-33. 
• Lochner made a jumper that Monmouth responded to with a layup right away, bringing the score to 52-38 at the end of the third quarter. 
• In the final quarter, Cinnamon Dockery completed a 3-point play followed by a layup from Richardson, trying to inch their way back in, 61-48. 
• In the finals seconds of the game the Hawks reached their largest lead, 20 points, to end the game 70-50. 

 
Inside The Numbers:

• Richardson led the team in scoring, finishing with 18 points, three rebounds and four assists. 
• Jackson finished with a total of 11 points while also grabbing six rebounds. 
• Dockery led the team in rebounds and steals, totaling nine rebounds and four steals against the Hawks. 
• Sammy Lochner finished with nine points, shooting 4-6 from the field. 
• Zoe Pero added a total of seven points, seven rebounds and a team high three blocks.
