Women’s Basketball Comes Up Short Against Fairfield

The Peacocks fell to Fairfield on Friday night, 69-61.

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team fell to Fairfield, 69-61 on Friday evening. Zoe Pero finished with a team high 16 points and Sammy Lochner finished behind her with 12 points.

Game Notes vs. Fairfield:
  • In a back-and-forth first quarter, Briyanah Richardson sank a three in the final three minutes, giving the Peacocks the 13-12 lead. 
  • The Stags then scored five straight points, going up 17-13.
  • Zoe Pero hit a layup to end their run, but the Stags made a jumper at the buzzer, to take the lead 19-15 at the end of the quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the Peacocks were able to catch up and tie the score at 21-21. 
  • Late in the quarter, the Peacocks went on a 6-0 run to take the lead, 33-28. 
  • Fairfield responded by sinking a jumper with 40 seconds left in the half.
  • Sammy Lochner sank a contested a 3-pointers in the final seconds of the half, and the Peacocks went into the locker room up 36-30. 
  • The teams stayed close in the third quarter, and at the 1:24 mark, Fairfield made a three, tying the score at 46-46, followed by a jumper at the buzzer, to lead the Peacocks 48-46 going into the final quarter.
  • In the final quarter, the Stags went on a 7-0 run, 55-47. 
  • Tyara Mcqueen made two three's in 40 seconds, to close in on the Stags lead, 59-55. 
  • The Peacocks continued to catch up to Fairfield but were unable to do so, losing 69-61. 
Inside The Numbers:
  • Zoe Pero finished with a team high 16 points and a career high five assists. 
  • Sammy Lochner added a total of twelve points, going 2-4 from the 3-point line. 
  • Cinnamon Dockery came just shy of a double double, totaling nine points and nine rebounds. 
  • Richardson added eleven points and dished out seven assists.
  • Wil'lisha Jackson totaled six rebounds and seven points.
