Wil’lisha Jackson Notches Career High in Loss to Siena in MAAC Opener

The Peacocks fell to Siena 57-84 in the first MAAC game of the season

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's women's basketball squad lost a tough game to Siena on Friday night in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener. Wil'lisha Jackson scored a career high 16 points against the Saints.

Game Notes vs. Siena:
  • Jackson scored the first eight points to start the Peacocks off against the Saints. 
  • Zoe Pero hit a lay up with eighteen seconds left in the frame cutting the lead to 16-10.
  • On the next play, Briyanah Richardson stole the ball and followed it up with a layup to end the period and make it 16-12 going into the second quarter.
  • The Peacocks got to within two points with a D'Aviyon Magazine layup at the 5:41 mark, before going into the break trailing by seven points, 28-35. 
  • Siena went on a 10-0 midway through the third quarter.
  • A Jackson jumper put an end to Siena's run. 
  • In the fourth quarter, Magazine scored two back to back threes to bring the score to 72-52.
  • The Saints came out on top to finish the game 84-57. 
 
Inside The Numbers:
  • Jackson connected on her first eight field goal attempts before missing her final shot of the night, finishing with a career and team high 16 points while also grabbing four rebounds. 
  • Magazine was right behind her finishing with 15 points.
  • Richardson grabbed a team high five rebounds to go along with a team high four steals.
  • Richardson also added nine points for the Peacocks. 
  • Pero finished the night with nine points, three blocks, and two steals. 
  • Tyara McQueen added a team high four assists and grabbed three rebounds for the Peacocks. 
 
Up Next:
  • The Peacocks head to Connecticut on Sunday, January 6 to play Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. at the People's United Center.
