Jowers Nets Game Winner for Men’s Soccer in Double Overtime

Jordan Jowers scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Sacred Heart

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Sophomore forward Jordan Jowers scored the game-winning tally for the Saint Peter's men's soccer team in the 107th minute of action in double overtime against Sacred Heart, leading to a 2-1 home victory at Caven Point Field in Jersey City. The Peacocks' record improves to 2-4 on the season.  
 
Game Notes
  • The Peacocks struck first and early, logging the first goal in the 11th minute when Dominic Laws sent a pass to Marco Torino, who's shot deflected off of a Sacred Heart defender, finding the goal.
  • With the Peacocks leading 1-0, Sacred Heart got the equalizer in minute number 24, tying the contest at 1-1.
  • Neither team could score the game-winner in regulation but the Peacocks controlled the game and pace.
  • At the end of regulation, Saint Peter's held a dominating advantage in shots (13-6).
  • In the first overtime, the Peacocks aggressive attack continued with Laws and Tom Coulson both getting shots on goal that were saved by Sacred Heart goalkeeper Robert Strain, sending the game to a second extra period.
  • In the second overtime, Coulson received a throw in before dishing a pass to Jowers who crossed his defender with a spin move and blasted the game-winning goal from 30 yards out into the bottom left corner at the 107:24 mark.
