Women’s Soccer Squanders Lead in Second Half at Fairfield

The Peacocks gave up three second half goals to Fairfield in the defeat

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Saint Peter's women's soccer team let a 1-0 lead slip away in the second half of a 3-1 defeat to the Fairfield Stags on Wednesday night.
 
Game Notes
  • Saint Peter's (2-12, 2-6) quickly got on the board two minutes into the night with Julianna Murrill getting an easy tap on a cross from Barbara Paiva.
  • The Peacocks kept Fairfield (7-7-2, 2-4-2) scoreless for the remaining 43 minutes in the half to take a 1-0 lead into the break.  
  • The Stags scored the game-tying goal in the 51st minute behind a goal from Alex Madden from the corner of the box to the left corner.
  • Fairfield's Brooke Hernon scored the go-ahead goal and the insurance goal in the 67th and 68th minutes to give the Stags the 3-1 win.

  • Murrill's tally was the first of her career.
  • Paiva dished out her first assist of the year.
  • Murrill led the Peacocks with two shots and two shots on goal.
