Thornton played a crucial role in the women's basketball program's best season in over a decade, culminating in the team's first appearance in the MAAC Women's Basketball Championship Final since 2002. Through the month of March, Thornton averaged 12 points per game and led the team to a 13-15 overall finish, marking the best overall record since the program achieved the same mark in 2008-09. Under Thornton's leadership, the women also finished out the year with a 10-9 MAAC record, marking Saint Peter's first winning season through league play since the team went 10-8 against MAAC opponents in 2008-09. The Pennsauken native led the team in scoring in two of their five March outings, with her best performance of the month coming in the Peacocks' 58-51 upset win over Marist in the regular season finale on March 5. Thornton finished with 19 points in the affair, leading all players while adding on five assists and three rebounds. On March 8, Thornton became the first Peacock named to the Women's Basketball All-MAAC First Team since Tania Kennedy earned the distinction in 2009.
