Only a freshman, Briyanah Richardson has already made an impact on the floor for women's basketball this season. She has been named by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as Rookie of the Week twice, for the weeks of November 12 and November 26.
Her second MAAC weekly honor came after she led the Peacocks in a win over Lafayette. Richardson scored a career-high 28 points in the 62-60 win against the Leopards, shooting 8-17 from the field, 4-6 from deep, and 8-10 from the free throw line. Richardson also dished out five assists, and grabbed five rebounds in the win. 16 of her 28 points came in the fourth quarter, to keep Saint Peter's ahead and secure the victory.
Richardson averages 15.4 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game, leading the Peacocks in all three categories so far this season. She is playing 33.3 minutes a game for the Peacocks, and has started in all seven games. Richardson is shooting .413 from the field and .478 from behind the three point line on the year.
Richardson and the Peacocks are out to the program's best start to a season since the 2007-08 season.
