Johannah Leedham-Warner is entering her first year in the college coaching ranks as she just finished up an impressive eleven year professional playing career overseas. She is coming off an extremely successful year in her Native country Great Britain playing in the WBBL and EuroCup Women for London Lions, after returning from Maternity leave.
This season she was named League MVP, as well as domestic all star five, First team All star five
and All Defensive team. She helped London Lions women’s team qualify for the Euro cup, as well as making a historic run in the competition for the first time club.
Jo had a prolific career overseas playing in France, Turkey, Poland, Australia and England. She played in EuroLeague Women for 8 years making consecutive Final 4 appearances. She also competed in EuroCup Women for 2 years and in 2016 was crowned EuroCup Champion with Tango Bourges Basket. She won multiple Championships in France, Poland and England, as well as picking up numerous individual accolades along the way.
Leedham represented her national team (Great Britain) for over a decade. She was an integral part of the team's success over that period, enjoying multiple EuroBasket Championships, as well as just missing out on qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics in February 2020. Her most impressive moment for the National team came in 2012 when she was named captain for the London Olympics. As well as being a key piece to this team, she led the tournament in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Jo retired from the team making 91 appearances and remains the leading scorer and most points accumulated for men or women.
Before embarking on her professional career, Leedham was a standout guard at Franklin Pierce University. While a member of the Ravens, the British native helped lead them to three Division II NCAA Tournament appearances, appearing in the Elite Eight (2008), National Championship Runner Up (2009) and Final Four (2010). In helping lead the Ravens to a 32-2 record and an appearance in the Final Four as a senior in 2009-10. Leedham was a two time National Division II Player of the Year (2008 and 2010). She is the all time leading scorer in division II with 3,050 total career points. She holds multiple records at Franklin Pierce, a otal of 19 and was inducted into the Northeast 10 hall of Fame in 2015 and the Franklin Pierce Hall of Fame in 2016.
After this record breaking career Leedham was the only Division II athlete to be drafted by the
WNBA to the Connecticut Sun at the 27th pick in 2010. In 2010, Leedham earned her bachelor’s degree in Sports Management at Franklin Pierce. Johannah resides in Englewood, NJ with her husband Jamaal and daughter Isla.
