Lucas Luopa joined head baseball coach Lou Proietti's staff in September 2019.
Luopa arrives in Jersey City after serving as an assistant coach for perennial NCAA Division II contender Franklin Pierce during the during the 2018 and 2019 seasons; he also graduated from Franklin Pierce and spent one season as a member of the baseball program in 2017. While coaching this past spring, Luopa guided the hitters and outfielders and was part of a coaching staff that led the Ravens to a strong finish in the postseason that culminated with a Northeast-10 Conference tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. In his final season as a player, Luopa slashed .312/.380/.416 with seven doubles and a home run while tallying 64 total bases; he also scored 31 runs while recording 20 RBIs on the year.
"Lucas has been an outstanding addition for us," said Proietti. "He will serve as our hitting coach, work with outfielders and will take on recruiting responsibilities. His experience as both a player and coach at high quality programs will be extremely valuable to our program."
Luopa is originally from Keene, New Hampshire, and currently resides in nearby Hoboken.
