JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's volleyball team (5-8, 0-2 MAAC) is set to take on Rider (4-8, 2-0 MAAC) on Tuesday at Alumni Gymnasium, while still searching for its first conference win of the season. First serve between the Peacocks and Broncs is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
The Peacocks had a challenging opening weekend in conference play, falling to both Siena and Marist in straight sets on the road. Rider played the same opponents as Saint Peter's over the weekend, but the Broncs won 3-1 in both matches.
Sibana González Acevedo continues to lead the Peacocks in kills with 146, averaging 2.86 kills per set. Saint Peter's defense has been solid at the net as
Karolina T. Rodriguez Mendez,
Indira T. Benitez Dumeng and
Elena Bilhartz have provided a strong blocking front.
ABOUT THE BRONCS
The Broncs have won four games this season, taking down Le Moyne, New Hampshire, and their first two MAAC opponents, Marist and Siena. Rider is led by senior opposite hitter Kiannisha Santiago, who has 135 kills on the year. Middle hitter Carley McAleavey has also impressed so far this season as she leads the MAAC in hitting percentage with a .396 mark.
Rider is coached by Jeff Rotondo, who is in his seventh season as the head coach of the Broncs.

The Peacocks are 21-37 all-time vs. Rider and 10-17 against the Broncs on the road…the Broncs have won the last 11 matchups between the two teams…the last time Saint Peter's defeated Rider came in a five-set victory back in 2018.
