JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's volleyball team (5-6) has a busy weekend ahead, opening up conference play against Siena (4-8) and Marist (1-10). The Peacocks will play the Saints at UHY Center on Friday at 7 p.m. ET and then play the Red Foxes at McCann Arena on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Peacocks just picked up their first sweep of the season on Tuesday, taking down LIU on the road in three sets. They'll look to match that success this weekend when MAAC play begins. Currently,
Andrea Rodríguez leads the MAAC in aces per set with 0.68, which ranks eighth nationally.
Saint Peter's has had tons of success defensively this year, leading the conference in blocks per set with 2.06. The Peacocks are also limiting their opponents to a .224 hitting percentage, which is the fourth-best mark among all 13 MAAC teams.
ABOUT THE SAINTS
The Saints have had an up and down year, winning matches against Central Connecticut State, Lafayette, Stonehill and most recently Le Moyne. Siena's Doga Diraz and Gabby Wire rank second and third in the MAAC in kills per set, which have helped the team average a .216 hitting percentage on the season.
Siena is coached by Tyler Kanelos, who is in his first season as the head coach of the Saints.
ABOUT THE RED FOXES
The Red Foxes' lone win this season came on the road against UT Martin in a 3-0 sweep on Sept. 6. Besides that match, Marist has seen some struggles with a very tough nonconference schedule to start the year. Junior outside hitter Sara Dasic leads the team in kills with 96. The main setter for the Red Foxes is freshman Caelyn Dumas, who ranks fifth in the MAAC in assists per set.
Marist is coached by Sean Byron, who is in his seventh season as the head coach of the Red Foxes.
