BATON ROUGE – After a crazy win over FDU on Wednesday, the Saint Peter's baseball team faces a quick turnaround with another far trip, this time for a three-game series against Southern.
Grant Neary's Peacocks will play their first game vs. the Jaguars on Friday at 7 p.m. ET at Lee-Hines Stadium.
This will mark the first-ever meeting between Saint Peter's and Southern. The Peacocks (3-5) have won two of their last three games, taking down George Mason and FDU. On the other hand, the Jaguars (3-4) have lost two of their last three games while participating in the Andre Dawson Classic.
Saint Peter's is led by senior
Ashby Vining who has jumped off to a terrific start to the season. He leads the MAAC with 15 hits, 14 RBIs and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Vining is also tied for first in the conference with four home runs while ranking second in batting average with a ..517 mark. In the comeback win over FDU, Vining hit two homers to ignite the late-game comeback.
After the series against Southern, the Peacocks will travel back to Jersey City for their first home game of the season on Tuesday, March 4th. Saint Peter's will play against LIU at Jaroschak Field at 2 p.m.
