JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team (0-3) head back on the road Wednesday, Nov. 19 against NJIT (4-1) at the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center in Newark, N.J. Tip off for the contest is scheduled for 6 p.m ET. The Peacocks look to bounce back after a tough loss on Thursday, Nov 13th against Lafayette 58-76.
In the loss, the Peacocks would show up with some notably strong performances.
De'Naya Rippey led the Peacocks in scoring for the second time in three games, recording a new career high of 23 points. Along with that, Rippey also recorded her second straight double double by grabbing 11 rebounds. Currently Rippey is leading the Peacocks in points (17.7), rebounds (10.7), and minutes (34.0).
Layla Laws and
Laila Grant both had their best performance of the season to date by both scoring 10 points and grabbing nine boards, Laws also leads the Peacocks in field goal percentage at 63.6 percent.
The Highlanders are coming off a tough victory on the road over the University of Saint Thomas 68-63. In the victory, the Highlanders dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tommies 22-7. Marrisa Gingrich paced the Highlanders with 22 points and four rebounds, shooting 53 percent from the field.
This contest will be the fourth consecutive road game to open the season for the Peacocks. After the matchup against NJIT, Saint Peter's will host Lehman on Nov. 22 in the home opener at Run Baby Run Arena.
