JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's volleyball team (5-11, 0-5 MAAC) is searching for its first conference win this weekend, taking on Merrimack (4-10, 2-3 MAAC) on Friday and Quinnipiac (6-11, 3-2 MAAC) on Saturday at Run Baby Run Arena.
The Peacocks are set to take on the Warriors on Friday night at 6 p.m. ET, followed by their match against the Bobcats on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Since conference play began, Saint Peter's has shown a ton of fight, but inconsistent flashes have led to their early struggles. The Peacocks are still looking for their first conference win and hope that it comes this weekend.
There are three Peacocks on the team with at least 100 kills on the season, and they are
Sibana Gonzalez Acevedo (177),
Indira T. Benitez Dumeng (138) and
Karolina T. Rodriguez Mendez (106). On the defensive end, Rodriguez Mendez and Benitez Dumeng lead the way in blocks. Rodriguez Mendez has 67 blocks on the year while Benitez Dumeng has 44.
ABOUT THE WARRIORS
The Warriors are coming off a 1-1 weekend, falling to Niagara and defeating Canisius at home. Both matches went a full five sets. Merrimack's other conference victory came over Sacred Heart on Sept. 27 in Fairfield. Sophomore outside hitter Mckenna Shotwell leads the team with 115 kills, averaging 2.17 kills per set.
Merrimack is coached by Ken Nichols, who is in his second season as the head coach of the Warriors.
ABOUT THE BOBCATS
The Bobcats' three conference wins have come against Sacred Heart, Merrimack and Canisius, but they are most recently coming off a four-set loss to Niagara. Quinnipiac is scheduled to play at Rider on Friday before going up to Jersey City to play the Peacocks on Saturday. The duo of Elena Giacomini and Yagmur Gunes have been dominant so far, combining for 520 kills.
Quinnipiac is coached by Kyle Robinson, who is in his seventh season as the head coach of the Bobcats.

The Peacocks are 0-3 all-time vs. Merrimack…the Peacocks are 6-17 all-time vs. Quinnipiac…Last season, Saint Peter's notched its first win over Quinnipiac since 2015, taking down the Bobcats in five sets on the road.
