Peacocks Fall To Niagara On The Road

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team (4-8-1, 2-5-0 MAAC) fell to Niagara (7-5-1, 4-3-1 MAAC)  by a final score of 0-3 at Niagara Field Saturday afternoon. The Peacocks were without their top goal-scorer, Tim Strele, for the latter half of the match after he got ejected with a red card in the 55th minute.

The first half was pretty quiet until the Purple Eagles became the first team to land a strike, scoring the game's first goal in the 32nd minute. The Peacocks and Purple Eagles were in a highly competitive battle, as Niagara totaled four shots in the first half compared to Saint Peter's three.

The Peacocks came out of halftime facing a 0-1 deficit, but ready to make a comeback. A bump in the road presented itself when Strele was ejected from the game early in the second half. Losing the top MAAC goal-scorer served to be a difference maker in Saint Peter's offensive production.

As the second half continued, Moritz Conrad recorded his first save of the game to keep the score the same. Shortly after Strele's ejection, the Purple Eagles netted their second goal to go up, 2-0. Niagara then extended its advantage to 3-0 after scoring again three minutes later in the 60th minute.

Down the stretch, the Peacocks showed fight, but it was a challenge for their attack to get past the Niagara defense. The Purple Eagles held onto the lead to take the 3-0 victory.
