Peacocks Travel North To Play Niagara, Canisius

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's volleyball team (5-13, 0-7 MAAC) embarks on its longest road trip of the season this weekend with matches at Niagara (6-9, 6-1 MAAC) and Canisius (6-11, 4-3 MAAC), continuing conference play.

The Peacocks play the Purple Eagles at 6 p.m. ET on Friday before taking on the Golden Griffs at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Both games will be televised on ESPN+. 

Saint Peter's is coming off a tough weekend against Merrimack and conference leader Fairfield, and competition will only get harder on this road trip as both teams are ranked in the top six in the MAAC. The Peacocks will need to improve their serving and stay consistent at the net in their matches on Friday and Saturday.

Senior Elena Bilhartz is coming off a solid performance against Quinnipiac, where she had 10 kills and nine blocks. She now has 50 kills and 44 blocks on the season.

ABOUT THE PURPLE EAGLES
The Purple Eagles are sitting in second place in the MAAC, losing just one conference match so far. They've defeated Canisius, Merrimack, Quinnipiac, Manhattan (twice), and they split their series, 1-1, with Iona. Janiah Robinson has been a problem for opponents all season, hitting a high .329 which ranks third in the MAAC. Niagara's duo of Mia Schaefer and Kinga Wronska both rank top six in the conference in digs per set with Schaefer leading all players (5.10 digs/set)

Niagara is coached by Ren Cefra, who is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Purple Eagles.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN GRIFFS
The Griffs have jumped out to a 4-3 start in conference play with series sweeps of Iona and Manhattan while falling to Niagara, Quinnipiac and Merrimack. They are on two-game winning streak after taking down Manhattan on Oct. 10 and Iona on Oct. 11. The Canisius offense runs through Ella Bourque who leads the MAAC in assists per set. She averages 9.52 assists per set and currently has 628 assists this year. 

Canisius is coached by Tom Hanna, who is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Golden Griffs.

NOTES
The Peacocks are 20-37 all-time vs. Niagara…the Peacocks are 14-42 all-time vs. Canisius.
