Saint Peter's Welcomes Sports Psychologist, Dr. Vonetta Kalieta

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter's University Athletics has announced the hiring of Dr. Vonetta Kalieta, who will serve as the department's sports psychologist, providing support and wellness services to Peacock student-athletes.

"We are thrilled to officially welcome Vonetta Kalieta to our athletic department," Director of Athletics Katie Arcurie said. "Her expertise in sport psychology marks a pivotal investment in the holistic well-being and peak performance of our student-athletes."

Kalieta brings over 15 years of experience in psychology, counseling and mental performance coaching for athletes at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. A licensed psychologist in the state of New Jersey, she has specialized in working with student-athletes to strengthen confidence, build resilience  and enhance overall performance on and off the playing field.

Her career includes serving as a full-time instructor and approved clinical supervisor at Monmouth University's graduate department of psychological counseling, as well as work in schools, community counseling and private practice. She has provided individual and group therapy, in-home therapy for at-risk youth and has worked as both a student assistance counselor and substance awareness coordinator.

Kalieta earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in psychology/psychological counseling from Monmouth University before completing her Doctor of Psychology (Ph.D.) in counseling psychology from Walden University. In addition to her psychology license, she is also a licensed professional counselor and an approved clinical supervisor.
